During the coming period, Parliament is preparing to activate its oversight role in addition to the legislative role, which was disrupted during the coming period, especially since the pressure on it will decrease after the work of the provincial councils begins.
A member of the House of Representatives for the State of Law, Souad Al-Maliki, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “Parliament in the previous period paid more attention to the legislative aspect than the oversight aspect, and the reason for this is due to the large accumulation of laws existing within the dome of Parliament, which delayed the oversight role, so there is no Except for one or two interrogations, but Parliament’s supervisory position will be activated in the next stage in an excellent way than it was in the previous stage.”
Regarding the provincial councils and their influence in Parliament, Al-Maliki explained that “the provincial councils are responsible for services in the provinces, which placed their burden on the representative, who was performing the roles of deputy and member of the provincial council throughout the previous period,” stressing that “Parliament is happy with the return of the provincial councils to reduce the pressure on it.” ", indicating that, "according to the circulation, all current governors will be replaced by new governors."
