In a statement to Rudaw Media Network, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stressed his country's continued assistance in eliminating ISIS.

When he was on Wednesday (September 21, 2022) in New York to participate in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, the Canadian Prime Minister answered Rudaw's question, saying: "Canada is always available anywhere in the world that needs it."

A month ago, the Canadian air force unit stationed in the Middle East was transferred to Britain to provide more support to Ukraine, and on whether Ukraine's support will affect Canada's role in confronting ISIS in Iraq, Justin Trudeau announced that "our commitment to the war on terrorism in Iraq is a commitment A long-term and old Canadian is to eliminate ISIS, and he will continue.”

Canada's military mission to confront ISIS began in October 2014, through the participation of its warplanes in the international coalition to eliminate ISIS.

The Canadian government says that it invested during the period (2016-2022) four billion dollars in facing the crises in Iraq and Syria.

The Canadian Prime Minister indicated: “We will continue our missions within NATO and in the international context, to fight terrorism, support our allies in NATO, stand with our friends in Ukraine, and our presence in global places and fields experiencing crises.”

With the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war in February of this year, a section of Western countries sent their soldiers to Ukraine, and in this context, Canada provided $472 million in military aid to Ukraine. The Canadian Air Force has also transferred to Ukraine more than £3.5 million in financial aid from its allies.

Below is Rudaw Reporter's question and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's answer:

Rudaw: Mr. Prime Minister, regarding the movement of military forces as well, but in the Middle East, 28 days ago, the Canadian air force unit was transferred from the Middle East to Britain to support your efforts to help Ukraine. Is this the beginning of ending your military support to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in Confronting terrorism and ISIS?

Justin Trudeau: Our commitment to the war on terror in Iraq is a longstanding Canadian commitment to eliminating ISIS, and it will continue. We will continue our missions within NATO and in the international context, to fight terrorism, support our NATO allies, stand with our friends in Ukraine, and be present in global places and arenas experiencing crises. Canada is always there anywhere in the world that needs it, and we will continue to do so.
