Iranian Foreign Minister: We will not tolerate the continuation of the attacks from Kurdistan Region
Shafaq News/ On Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian expressed his regret over what he called the continued attacks by the Iranian Kurdish opposition parties against his country, for which the territory of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq is a refuge.
This came in a phone call Abdollahian had with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, according to what the first said today in a post on social media.
The Iranian foreign minister added that he thanked Hussein and the Iraqi prime minister for their efforts to release the Iranian Hajj, who was detained in Saudi Arabia.
Regarding the issue of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Abdollahian said: After 4 decades and despite repeated commitments by the region's authorities, the movements of armed terrorist groups from the region's territory against Iran's national security are still continuing, unfortunately.
He added, "We, with respect and commitment to developing distinguished relations between the two countries, as emphasized by senior military officials in the Islamic Republic of Iran, will not tolerate the continuation of attacks and terrorist acts by these factions that take the region as a refuge and target Iranian national security."
For nearly two weeks, the Iranian forces have launched intense artillery and drone bombardment targeting border areas in the Kurdistan Region under the pretext of attacking the Kurdish parties opposing the regime of the Islamic Republic in Tehran.
The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to hold a session to discuss the ongoing Iranian bombing of the region, which resulted in casualties and injuries, and for which Baghdad summoned the Iranian ambassador.
