The Ministry of Agriculture revealed, on Sunday, that the agricultural sector's contribution to the gross domestic product ranged between 2.5-4.7 percent over the past three years.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture, Muhammad al-Khuzai, said in an interview reported by the official newspaper and seen by "Al-Iqtisad News" that "the ministry annually sets ambitious plans to increase this contribution by directing support to the agricultural sector to increase dunam yields and total productivity of agricultural products and diversify the sources of contribution by increasing The country's exports of products, enhancing the productive capacities of farmers and building their effectiveness in the face of crises, climate changes and water scarcity.
He expressed his hope that the percentage of contribution would increase during the current year due to the presence of a lot of data, including an increase in the agricultural area and its diversity in light of the increase in the amount of rain and the support provided to farmers and farmers in the plant and animal parts.
