The American Real Clear Energy network concerned with energy affairs said today, Thursday, that the energy sector in the Kurdistan region of Iraq is completely controlled by the United States of America.
In its translation report (Baghdad Today), the network stated that "the Kurdistan region of Iraq is the only place in Iraq that hosts US-funded projects in the field of energy," stressing that "the region is the security partner in the field." of energy and the most important for the United States in the region," as it was described.
The network promised, according to the report, "the decisions taken by the central government in Baghdad regarding the energy field within the Kurdistan region, including the Federal Court's decision to prevent the region's authorities from disposing of natural resources in northern Iraq without obtaining direct permission." from the central government," as an attack on US interests in the energy sector. Fia accused Iran of "standing behind Baghdad's decisions," as she said.
And she continued, "The unjustified attack launched by the network on the Iraqi authorities and the accusations launched against the Iraqi government and judiciary, also included a call for the US government to take more severe and severe measures against Iraq with the aim of" protection US interests in the field of energy," according to the network, which indicated that the energy sector in the Kurdistan region of Iraq is an "American sector" and therefore the US government must protect it from any Iraqi interference.
In 2022, the Federal Supreme Court in Iraq issued a ruling ruling that the oil and gas law of the Kurdistan Regional Government, issued in 2007, was unconstitutional, and canceled for violating the provisions of constitutional articles, as well as obligating the region to hand over oil production to the federal government.
The court said, in a statement received by (Baghdad Today), that “the decision included obligating the regional government to hand over all oil production from the oil fields in the region and other regions, from which the Ministry of Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government was extracting oil from, and to hand it over to the federal government represented by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.” and enabling it to use its constitutional powers regarding oil exploration, extraction and export.
The oil file is considered one of the most prominent outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil, as the House of Representatives seeks to legislate the oil and gas law after the political agreement that was concluded before the formation of the government of Muhammad Shia al-Sudani by the State Administration Coalition.
