On Thursday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani announced the launch of the first package of projects to relieve traffic jams in the capital, Baghdad.
Al-Sudani said, "The government has prioritized services at the forefront of its program," noting that "Baghdad today is in dire need of service projects, especially since every employee needs two hours to reach his workplace due to traffic jams."
Al-Sudani added, in a speech during the ceremony held at the Ministry of Construction and Housing, on the occasion of the launch of the package, that "2023 will be the year of projects, and we will witness celebrations for launching projects."
He stressed, "Bridge projects are necessary in the capital, Baghdad," pointing out that "Baghdad deserves to implement permanent solutions to the issue of traffic congestion."
He pointed out that "the projects that will be launched today are happening for the first time in Baghdad," stressing that "solutions exist today, despite the delay."
He continued, "The center and the outskirts of Baghdad will be one for ease of movement," adding that "these projects will not go with the lagging projects."
The Prime Minister vowed to "hold accountable any party that obstructs the implementation of projects."
