    Baghdad today -
Today, Tuesday, the Legal Committee, headed by Representative Rebwar Hadi, held a joint meeting with the Committee of Regions and Governorates that are not organized in a region to discuss the proposed law for the third amendment to the Provincial and District Council Elections Law No. . 12 of 2018, while it issued 5 decisions and recommendations regarding the law.
A statement by the parliament's media department, which was received by (Baghdad Today), stated that "the committee discussed the need to monitor the technical contracts that the commission holds with companies to provide technical requirements for conducting the elections, and stress the need to announce the preliminary results of the elections within 24 hours."
And the committee decided, according to the statement, that "the percentage of unreadable fingerprints allowed does not exceed 3% of the number of voters in the voter register at the station level, in addition to the dependence of the commission in determining the preparation of the voter register on the latest database of the voter register.”
She also stressed the need to cancel the elections abroad due to the lack of futility and the high financial cost of conducting them, while she decided to postpone discussing some technical articles of the law until after hosting the High Electoral Commission and listening to their observations regarding the proposed law.
On the other hand, the Legal Committee received the proposals of the Parliamentary Regions Committee and representatives of the independents and the emerging parliamentary blocs, regarding the age of the candidate and his educational attainment, in addition to the form of the electoral system and the electoral divide, while it promised to study them in order to reach a final version of the law that would meet the ambition.
