The health insurance law is considered one of the most important laws included in the government program, due to the fact that its implementation has not been activated after nearly three years of its approval.
The law was voted on by the House of Representatives in October 2020, and it was necessary to implement it 6 months after the approval of the Presidency of the Republic 2021, but it was not implemented due to the delay in approving the budget and forming the government.
And in early 2023, the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, announced the activation of the health insurance law by launching a subscription form in this insurance, so that the citizen would pay 25% of the value of the surgical operation, while the government, through the insurance fund, would pay the remaining 75%.
The head of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, Majid Shankali, told Al-Sabah: The most important laws pertaining to the medical reality is health insurance, revealing that large sums have been allocated in the budget to complete work in lagging hospitals.
He pointed to the imminent opening of Maysan Hospital, while a hospital opened in Basra a few weeks ago, and last year witnessed the opening of Najaf Hospital, noting the country's need to develop and establish many hospitals in all governorates.
He added, "The committee is working on many laws within the short term, including the law of the National Authority for Radiation and Nuclear Materials, which will be ready for voting in the upcoming sessions," pointing out that "there are many proposals that include amending some laws, including the amendment of the Medical Graduation Law and the Medical Graduation Law." human organs Transplant".
