    Yesterday, Wednesday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani sponsored the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations Development Program to enhance the fight against corruption, which includes cooperation in the field of combating corruption and strengthening the principle of transparency, accountability and integrity in the public and private sectors. The Director of the Office of the Prime Minister, Ihsan Al-Awadi, signed on behalf of the Iraqi side.[/size]
    [size=45]In a statement to his media office, the Prime Minister expressed his "appreciation to the United Nations Development Program and international development partners for Iraq's support in the fight against corruption."[/size]
    [size=45]Al-Sudani affirmed that “the current government has paid great attention to the anti-corruption file, and has included it among the most important priorities of its program. It has reinforced this with procedural steps, targeting hotbeds of corruption in state institutions, and it is continuing to pursue the corrupt and those involved in stealing public money, and recovering the looted funds.”[/size]
    [size=45]He pointed to "the government's determination to cooperate with international institutions and organizations, to develop mechanisms to combat corruption and reduce its risk in undermining the goals of sustainable development plans, impeding the advancement of the economy, and the implementation of the government's approach to reform."[/size]
    [size=45]The statement concluded, “In light of the memorandum, the United Nations Development Program provides support to the Iraqi government in strengthening its steps to combat corruption, and includes developing the capabilities of anti-corruption bodies, and supporting strategic and legal frameworks in line with the United Nations Convention against Corruption, as well as joint cooperation in creating an appropriate environment.” For dialogue, and urging social actors to report corruption, and to promote means of transparency and accountability in the public and private sectors.[/size]
    [size=45]During his meeting with the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, and members of the Parliamentary Labor and Social Affairs Committee, coordination and integration between the executive and legislative authorities were emphasized, and the importance of expediting the approval of the budget, in order to facilitate the government’s work, and implement its plans aimed at raising the standard of living and reducing poverty, according to what was stated. It came in the five priorities included in the ministerial program, which the government is working to implement in its government curriculum.[/size]
    [size=45]The meeting dealt with the recent government decisions related to mechanisms for implementing laws that target the segment of workers in the private sector, such as the Social Security Law, and the assumption of the Federal Service Council to create job opportunities for the unemployed, as well as loans provided to owners of small projects, and the emphasis on supporting the government in implementing its government program, especially what It is related to the axis of services and the fight against poverty[/size]
