Basra Company: We will stop 90% of the burning gas by the end of 2027

The Basra Gas Company "BGC" suggested stopping more than 90 percent of the burning gas by the end of 2027, while the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee confirmed that Iraq may lead gas-producing countries in the coming years.
An official source in the company told Al-Sabah that the five-year plan set by the company is looking forward to achieving 1490 cubic meters by the end of 2027, which represents more than 90 percent of the amount of burning gas that is produced with crude oil at the present time.
He added that the company has other projects within the plan to capture and collect gas from oil and gas producing fields, including projects in the Zubair field and West Qurna.
He added that the southern projects in Rumaila aspire to invest quantities of gas and transfer it to the Basra Gas Company to be processed and converted into clean energies.
For his part, a member of the Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee in the House of Representatives, Sabah Sobhi, explained to "Al-Sabah" that "the members of the committee discussed how to benefit from the gas present in the Iraqi subsoil, as it includes a large reserve of this substance," expressing his hope to invite companies International Organization for the extraction of this product, and the construction of tanks and pipes through which it can be exported.
He expected that Iraq would lead gas-producing countries in the coming years, if it was able to invest it optimally.
