Introducing governmental strengthening institutes for symbolic fees

The Ministry of Education will open, at the beginning of next year, government institutes for remedial training with nominal fees.
The administrative deputy in the ministry, Dr. Falah Al-Qaisi, said in a statement to Al-Sabah: The ministry will establish purely governmental institutes for strengthening at the beginning of next year and open them according to the competence of each directorate of education in Baghdad and the provinces, noting that the procedure is included within the government program for developing the educational process in the country.
He added that the participation in these institutes will be in exchange for symbolic fees so that all students and pupils from various segments of society can register in them with the aim of eliminating the phenomenon of costly private teaching in addition to supporting students with lessons that help them understand the curriculum in order to contribute to raising success rates.
In the same context, Al-Qaisi stated that the ministry directed the education directorates in Baghdad and the governorates, according to their competence and the possibility of each of them, to open free tuition institutes in the schools of the distinguished and outstanding for orphans, children of martyrs, teachers, and people with limited income as a first step, in preparation for opening government institutes with symbolic fees early next year.
He revealed that after investigations and field tours of the relevant ministry teams, it became clear that there are civil institutions that force students to enroll in private lessons in exchange for sums of up to three million dinars for each student, in order to give them good grades that qualify them to participate in ministerial exams, or to raise the grades of their annual endeavor, in exchange for their registration in them. .
The decisions come after a campaign by the Ministry to close unofficial private tutoring institutes as a way to combat one of the aspects of corruption, which resulted in the closure of about 500 unlicensed private tutoring institutes.
Last week, the ministry decided to exempt educators, supervisors, and principals of schools and directorates from their positions if it was proven that they were giving private lessons or owning a private teaching institute.
