    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The Republic of Iraq renewed its serious commitment to cooperate with the international community to combat terrorism and eliminate it once and for all.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", today, Thursday (September 26, 2024), that "its Minister, Fuad Hussein, participated in the meeting of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism, which was held on September 25, 2024, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the seventy-ninth session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York."
In his speech during the meeting, Hussein stressed, according to the statement, that "Iraq pays great attention to supporting victims of terrorism, both materially and morally, especially since it is one of the countries that has suffered the most from terrorist acts and their consequences," stressing "the Iraqi government's commitment to serious cooperation with the international community to combat terrorism and eliminate it once and for all, and to prevent any entity or approach that adopts violence, terrorism, extremism and hate speech. He also stressed not allowing the use of Iraqi territory as a headquarters or launching pad for terrorist organizations' activities, which contributes to enhancing international security and stability."
The Minister praised "the efforts of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism ( UNOCT ) in coordinating international efforts," commending "the efforts of the governments of the member states of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism to develop national strategies that meet the needs of victims and their families in terms of health and social aspects, and guarantee their basic and human rights. He also announced that Iraq will host the group's conference in 2026."
