[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Ministry of Water Resources announced the approval of the agricultural plan for the winter season 2024-2025, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture.
The ministry said in a statement: "In coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, after calculating the expected water imports and releases and the live storage available for dams and reservoirs and securing the share of the Iraqi marshes, the approval of the agricultural plan for the winter season 2024-2025 was approved."
It added: "It was agreed to provide irrigation water for an area of 2,000,000 dunums, including wheat, barley, vegetables and other winter crops, relying on surface water."
It pointed out that "irrigation water was secured for an area of 3,141,500 dunums, including wheat, barley, vegetables and other winter crops, relying on groundwater."
According to the statement, she stressed that "the plan included securing irrigation water for orchards covering an area of 1,100,000 dunums," noting "the continuation of implementing Cabinet Resolution No. 23235 of 2023, which includes the ministry, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, filling in the lakes created in violation, in cooperation with the Joint Operations Command, while the Ministry of Water Resources continues to secure water for marshland feeders to reduce the effects of water scarcity on the residents of the marshes."
She stressed the need to "conduct a national campaign to raise awareness of expanding the use of modern irrigation techniques and reducing waste and the danger of violations of water sources, starting from the seeding stage until harvest." / End 2[/rtl]
