    On Sunday, the head of the Parliamentary Rights Bloc, Saud Al-Saadi, launched an initiative to amend the salaries of employees and those charged with public service.
    Al-Saadi said, in a statement, that he "addressed the office of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani and put forward an initiative to amend the salaries of employees and those assigned to a public service."
    Al-Saadi added, "Based on our representative role on behalf of the people in accordance with Article 49/First of the Constitution and for the purpose of achieving social justice and reducing financial disparities between employees and those charged with public service and ensuring a decent life, and in line with Law No. 28 of 2019 abolishing financial privileges for officials, we propose an initiative in this regard."
    The initiative included, according to the statement, “issuing a decision by the Council of Ministers to reduce the salaries and allowances of the three presidencies (the Prime Minister, his deputies, ministers and those of their rank, the President and his deputies, the Speaker of Parliament and his deputies, members of the Council and those with special grades and those of their rank by 25% of the salary and allowances granted to them for the purpose of financing and completing employee compensation.” In the new salary scale that will be fixed in the draft federal budget law.
    He continued, "The initiative included raising the upper limit for the salaries of employees with low salaries, starting from the sixth grade upwards in a way that meets the requirements of a decent life, and not reducing or affecting the salaries and allowances of employees in the first grade up to the fifth grade of the employees' salary scale for the purpose of financing the increase resulting from the relocation differences." The salaries of the employees whose salaries will be raised in item (2) above, in order not to prejudice these important segments of the public office.
    Al-Saadi stressed, according to the initiative, the need for "the Council of Ministers to prepare a unified draft law for the salaries and allowances of all employees in state departments and the public sector and send it to the House of Representatives for the purpose of approval."
    He stressed the need for the Council of Ministers to expedite the preparation of a unified bill for the salaries of the three presidencies, including ministers, deputies, and those of their rank in accordance with the provisions of Articles (63/First), (74) and (82) of the Constitution, taking into account the reduction of wide financial differences with state employees and sending it to the House of Representatives for the purpose of his approval.”
    Al-Saadi called, through the initiative, to "direct the Diwani Order Committee (24S) for the year 2022 to take into account the provisions of the constitution and the laws in force and not to make amendments to the salary scale in a manner that violates the amended Law of State and Public Sector Employees' Salaries No. (22) for the year 2008 and other relevant laws that require obtaining approval."
