Today, Saturday, the West Qurna 1 Field Operating Authority announced the preparation of a plan for the purpose of increasing production in the field to more than 800,000 barrels within this period, noting that an amount of $ 500 million has been allocated to establish new stations.
The director of the authority, Muhammad Aziz, told (Baghdad Today) that "the work will be greater for the purpose of increasing production in 2029 by about 1 million and 600 thousand barrels per day," pointing out that "the main company operating the field is Exxon Mobinil with its partners, the Japanese, Chinese and Indonesian companies."
He added, "The Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, is following up on the issue of developing the field, in addition to directing him with regard to providing social benefits close to the field."
The West Qurna oil field is one of the largest Iraqi oil fields, and the proven reserves of this field are 12 billion barrels of crude oil. And after its inclusion in the first licensing round to invest in oil fields and increase their productivity, it obtained a development contract for the same company that was investing in it, and the company allocated $5 billion to increase oil production from this giant field.
