On Sunday, the head of the Investment Authority, Haider Muhammad Makiya, received the European Union advisor, Marita Simonti.
The two parties discussed, according to a statement by the Investment Commission, "development of the elements of the economic sector through the application of environmental legislation and regulations for investment projects in Iraq."
The statement added that Makiya "informed the European delegation about the investment opportunities represented by announcing the new cities and the specifications that distinguish them from being sustainable, smart and green cities in the governorates of Baghdad, the holy Karbala, Anbar, Babel and Nineveh, indicating that these cities will be established according to accurate international standards."
Makiya spoke about "the development path project, which will represent a national economic artery, whose indicators will reflect positively on the Iraqi economy and investment."
The two sides discussed, according to the statement, "the possibility of signing a joint memorandum of understanding for the purpose of activating cooperation at greater levels for the success of new city projects in Iraq."
