    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, revealed the volume of current production of power plants, after the decrease in gas supplied from Iran.
"The decrease in energy supply came after achieving the highest production rate of 26,000 megawatts," Fadel said in a statement to the official agency.
He pointed out, "The supply rate decreased to 20 thousand and 600 megawatts due to the lack of gas."
And he indicated that "once the return of gas, the rate of production will increase, and the processing hours will return as they were."
And the Minister of Electricity revealed "in-depth discussions with the Iranian side within days regarding gas supplies."
Fadel stressed, "The Ministry of Electricity has paid the debts in full, but the cases related to the TBI Bank due to US sanctions prevent the transfer of amounts."
It is noteworthy that Iraq is currently witnessing a crisis with an acute shortage of electricity supply hours, coinciding with a significant rise in temperatures and exhausting weather, with expectations of a greater rise in temperature at the end of the week and the coming days.
A political bloc warned of an "imminent popular explosion" due to the electricity shortage crisis.
