Experts in international and political affairs unanimously agreed that the (signing of the joint declaration of intent) and the draft memorandum of understanding between the two countries to be concluded between the Iraqi and British Ministries of Interior constitute an important turning point towards establishing security and stability in Iraq and ensuring modern means and expertise to pursue organized crime networks in all its forms.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani welcomed, during his meeting with the British Minister of State for Security Affairs, Tom Tugendhat, the signing of the joint declaration of intent, to be concluded between the Iraqi and British ministries of interior, and the draft memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
For his part, Tugendhat expressed Britain's readiness to support the Iraqi security forces and provide them with modern technologies.
The director of the Iraqi Center for Strategic Studies, Dr. Ghazi Faisal, said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": The British-Iraqi relations are close in terms of economic, industrial, commercial activities and investments and other security issues, indicating that Britain is a pivotal country in the international coalition for the war on terrorism and therefore plays An important role in the development and development of the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces similar to the program carried out by NATO, stressing that Britain has deep experience in the field of security and follow-up of organized crime, whether related to drug trafficking, money laundering or human trafficking and can benefit from the accumulated experience in developing capabilities The competent Iraqi security agencies to pursue organized crime networks and mafias in Iraq, which creates a state of security stability.
In turn, the head of the Orient Center for Strategic Studies and Information, Ali Mahdi Al-Araji, indicated to "Al-Sabah" that the important point that the media ignores is related to what the British side adopts in combating extremism, especially the "Prevent" program, which focuses directly on extremism, stressing that the meeting point is Between the two security systems stands on terrorist extremism, and Iraq is not like the rest of the world's countries possessing significant information and experience in this field, so it can be said that any memorandum of understanding or any initiative between the two countries comes out of the British side as a winner because of its reliance on the stereotyped approach in tracking down information.
He pointed out that Iraq plays a major role in providing the world with intelligence information, despite the weakness of efforts and lack of capabilities, but it has human expertise capable of knowing the security scene accurately, as it informed the British government last July that there is information about the existence of possible terrorist operations, and indeed The British Home Secretary indicated that this monitoring came differently from the collection of information and predictions for the past five years, noting that the intelligence service determined that the threat is from the third level among the five levels.
Al-Araji added that with regard to the impact of the agreement on the Iraqi side, it will add electronic expertise and new technologies to the security arena, enabling it to enhance the intelligence effort through the air.
