    On the sidelines of the International Conference on Dust and Sand Storms, the Iraqi Minister of Environment, Nizar Amidi, met with the Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Head of the Environmental Protection Organization, Dr. Ali Selajjah, and many common environmental files were discussed, including the issue of dust and sand storms, climate change, and water scarcity.
    Dr. Salajjah pointed out that the fortieth visit of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, was a wonderful journey this year and was accompanied by many environmental and awareness-raising activities from both sides, which focused on removing waste from the roads and preserving the environment.
    Amedi confirmed that Iraq opened the Basra-Shalamcheh railway project in cooperation with the Iranian side to remove mines from the road, and both parties are looking forward to planting trees on the road in the future.
    The two parties also discussed the issue of activating the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two parties and ways to implement projects on the ground.
    The two parties agreed to increase the momentum of future work and mutual visits between the two parties.
