Al-Sudani presents the government's strategy to solve the housing crisis

Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani announced a strategy consisting of several axes to solve the housing crisis, while renewing his government's support for the private sector and overcoming obstacles facing all investors.
Al-Sudani said at the ceremony announcing the launch of the Iraq Gate Complex (Al-Buhaira) by Amwaj International, which was attended by Al-Sabah: Our participation in the ceremony announcing the complex represents a message of support and reassurance to the private sector to contribute to solving the housing crisis.
He added that local companies and the private sector have begun to step steadily towards competing with foreign companies with high-quality projects, including housing projects.
Al-Sudani explained that housing is a chronic problem since the eighties of the last century, and its solutions were not as big as the crisis due to the absence of vision and wrong policies in determining its origin, such as the distribution of unserviced lands, the granting of permits here and there far from the basic designs of cities, and the failure to control prices, which affected the citizen’s ability to overcome them.
And he indicated that housing is a priority for the government, as it is directed within the budget to establish factories involved in the manufacture of construction materials such as wood, iron and cement, in addition to distributing serviced lands and facilitating citizens’ access to loans in housing projects and lands that will be granted by the government, in addition to the establishment of residential cities, which is what Indeed, a few days ago, five new residential cities were announced outside the cities that contain services and economic activities, which is a focus on which the government is currently focusing on to withdraw the population momentum from the center of cities, in addition to addressing the road crisis leading to them.
Al-Sudani pointed out that the budget law includes the establishment of the Iraq Fund for Development, from which a housing fund, the (wage) and (ownership) initiative, housing units will be divided equally with the state, and projects for the needy as well.
He stated that the government is continuing to simplify procedures for investors and reduce delay in providing land, reiterating its support for the private sector to contribute to the development process.
For his part, the head of the Baghdad Investment Commission, Al-Hassan Jamil Hassan, told Al-Sabah that investment is the cornerstone of the development process and the increase in domestic product, indicating that the government has launched a campaign to simplify procedures, support investment and bypass red tape and bureaucracy in front of investors to develop the economy.
He added that the authority seeks to provide all kinds of support and assistance to foreign and local companies in order to achieve comprehensive development and involve the private sector to improve the level of services.
In turn, the founder of Amwaj International, Namir Al-Aqabi, told Al-Sabah: The government's efforts are unprecedented to support investment and remove obstacles to the success of project implementation.
He added that the company has entered into the implementation of the fourth housing project and is working to rehabilitate local staff and provide job opportunities in preparation for dispensing with foreign workers, stressing work on implementing new housing projects in the governorates during the next stage.
