    Baghdad today - Diyala
Today, Saturday (October 28, 2023), the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee revealed that there are 20 hot files on the table of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani regarding Diyala Governorate, while indicating that the governorate faces three challenges.
Committee member MP Salah Zaini Al-Tamimi said in an interview with “Baghdad Al-Youm” that “the stability of the security situation in Diyala is a positive thing, but this does not mean the end of its problems and crises, especially since a large part of them is related to corruption and the attempt of some influential forces to impose their influence in all forms and tools, and this is what we warned us about.” “From him in the past, today and tomorrow, and we have many justifications and evidence.”
He added: "We have 20 hot files regarding Diyala Governorate that are on the table of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, some of which are very sensitive," pointing out that "the governorate is facing three challenges, the most prominent of which is corruption, which has become a worrying factor at all levels."
He pointed out that "exposing corruption and punishing those involved in it is the most important dose of medicine that corrects the situation in Diyala and pushes it to the right paths," stressing that "terrorism is part of Diyala's security problem, but corruption, as it worsens, has become the biggest problem now."
Earlier, MP Salah Zaini Al-Tamimi also revealed to “Baghdad Al-Youm” that there are 200 cases of corruption and waste of public money in Diyala Governorate that have not been activated yet.
Last April, the head of the popular movement in Diyala, Ammar Shanba Al-Tamimi, revealed that 225 complaints had been filed about huge corruption files in the governorate.
Al-Tamimi told "Baghdad Today", "Corruption is a scourge equal to the threat of terrorism in Diyala, and what we observe daily is terrifying because of the large amount of waste of public money in various forms."
He added, "225 complaints about the corruption file in Diyala were submitted by Representative Salah Zaini to the competent judicial authorities according to successive stages in order to conduct a transparent investigation with all its contents," stressing that "the complaints include tons of wasted money on projects that did not achieve the required benefit." .
Al-Tamimi pointed out that "part of Diyala's stability is combating corruption, which has begun to penetrate greatly into state institutions, and we have warned of its danger time and again," stressing that "the movement believes in the justice of the Iraqi judiciary and its agencies in exposing the corrupt and issuing fair decisions against everyone who looted money."
