Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed, on Monday, the establishment of a public company for carbon economics.
Al-Sudani's office stated in a statement received by Al-Maalouma that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' Al-Sudani chaired, today, Monday, a special meeting on carbon emissions, attended by the ministers of oil, electricity, and the environment, energy advisors, and specialists in this sector."
The Prime Minister directed "the establishment of a public company for carbon economics affiliated with the Ministry of Environment. He also directed that energy contracts be organized in a way that is consistent with the government's approach to the climate aspect and the changes occurring in it, in a manner consistent with government obligations to address the effects of climate changes occurring due to the harmful activity of carbon emissions."
He instructed the Ministry of Environment to “require ministries and private sector companies to follow specific instructions regarding carbon emissions,” stressing that “the implementation of these instructions must be followed up by the relevant authorities.” Ended / 25 hours
