    On Sunday, Environment Minister Nizar Amidi announced the establishment of the National Company for Carbon Economics, while indicating work to organize the work of investing carbon revenues from clean projects.
     Aamidi said in a press conference to announce the investment opportunity to treat waste and produce electrical energy in the Nahrawan region, and Al-Iqtisad News reviewed it. “We are facing a distinguished experience and work that falls within the implementation of the paragraphs of the government program and within the agenda of the National Service Government, as we are preparing today for a real and practical implementation.” To convert waste into energy, which represents an aspiration that the Ministry of Environment has long called for, not only to highlight the civilized face of the city of Baghdad, with its history and authenticity, and to reduce the volume of waste in it, but to preserve public health from the increased spread of communicable and epidemic diseases.”
    He added, "The project is in line with national and global trends to diversify the country's economy, encourage renewable energies, reduce emissions, and adapt to climate change. It contributes to implementing part of Iraq's international obligations under the Paris Agreement and supports the distinguished efforts to sustain energy and compensate for the existing shortage, in addition to benefiting from carbon economies and obtaining support." International, pointing out that "in recent years we have witnessed a significant increase in the volume of waste as a result of the increase in the population and the increase in their activities, especially in Baghdad, and this was reflected in the increase in unsanitary dumps and landfills, some of which operate outside environmental limits and outside control."
    He stated, "This prompted the government to develop urgent and effective solutions to get rid of this problem and focus on the waste management file in Iraq," explaining that "the advanced technology of completely burning waste is one of the important trends from which we reap, firstly, an environmental benefit, and secondly, it contributes to saving energy." electrical".
    He stated that "our ministry is working rapidly to organize the work of investing carbon revenues from clean projects, and the National Company for Carbon Economics was recently established in our ministry," pointing out that "the company will contribute to strengthening the green economy, contributing to improving the environment, encouraging modern technology, and trading in carbon bonds."
    He stressed that "the Ministry of Environment congratulates this distinguished achievement and supports the good efforts made by the National Investment Authority, as well as the Municipality of Baghdad and the Ministry of Electricity," explaining that it "will work to closely monitor implementation and continue work on this type of project based on its oversight tasks and the approved national specifications." .
    He expressed his aspiration that "this important project will include all parts of the country to establish new concepts in the management of this important file and to apply the concepts of rational waste management."
