One of the sheikhs and notables of Anbar Governorate revealed, on Sunday, that the ousted President, Muhammad al-Halbousi, flew from Jordan to Turkey on two secret visits, while referring to the outcomes of the “secret” meeting.
Sheikh Abd al-Razzaq al-Hamad al-Dulaimi said in a statement to the Maalouma Agency, “Al-Halbousi began a secret trip that began in Anbar Governorate and met with senior Kurdish officials in Erbil Governorate. Then he headed to its airport towards Jordan and held meetings with a number of Jordanian officials and concluded his visit by flying to Turkey.” He concluded his meeting with a number of Turkish officials.
He added, "All of these visits were characterized by complete confidentiality, and official reception ceremonies were held for the ousted president despite his being stripped of his official status."
Al-Dulaimi explained, “Information leaked from Al-Halbousi’s meetings indicates that he proposed the idea of establishing the Anbar region with local and foreign figures and gained the support of the outside world and supported his efforts in achieving this project by seeking the assistance of foreign experts and organizations that would pave the way for consolidating this project as constitutional.”
He pointed out that "the implementation of the project will begin during the next phase, in coordination and cooperation with high-level political figures in the central government and with the support of America and Britain."
He stated, "Political and tribal figures in Anbar rejected the idea of this project and considered it a way to consolidate sectarianism and divide the country into disintegrated mini-states that would be vulnerable to external interference."
