The Parliamentary Regions and Governorates Committee confirmed, today, Tuesday, its endeavor to guarantee the legal and financial rights of the “selected” segment by amending their law.
The Vice Chairman of the Committee, Jawad Al-Yassari, said in an interview with the Al-Ma’louma Agency, “The Chosen Ones Law is one of the laws postponed from previous parliamentary sessions. We hope to discuss it and include it for the first reading.”
He added, “Amending the Mukhtars’ Law will include monthly and retirement rights,” pointing out that “Mukhtars receive an amount of 250,000 dinars per month.”
He pointed out, "The Parliamentary Regions and Governorates Committee seeks during the next stage to amend the Mukhtars' Law No. 13 of 2011 to do justice to the segment of the Mukhtars."
Earlier, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Shakhwan Abdullah, held an expanded meeting with a delegation of Mukhtars from a number of Iraqi governorates, stressing the House of Representatives’ directive to proceed with legal procedures regarding the draft law amending the Mukhtars Law.
