The Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee announced today, Sunday, a plan to establish a large number of cancer treatment centers for early detection even within health institutions, while indicating a move to amend the Cancer Council Law.
Committee member Basem Al-Gharabi said in a statement to the official agency, followed by "Mawazine News", that "amending the Cancer Council Law is very important due to the lack of accurate statistics in the relevant sectors, and the last statistic was in 2022 due to the difficulties of going to remote areas to detect cancer patients due to the lack of capabilities according to the Ministry of Health."
He explained that "early examination must be activated and is very important to know the patient's condition before his condition worsens because there are levels and if it reaches advanced stages, treatment becomes more difficult."
Al-Gharabi added that "there is a good plan in the Ministry of Health to establish a large number of cancer treatment centers for early detection even within health institutions. It is a good plan that if it is activated and allocations are disbursed, it will be a qualitative leap."
He pointed out that "the oil-producing governorates have more cancer patients and there is no treatment due to the lack of capabilities."
