    Today, Wednesday (January 31, 2024), the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, stressed the necessity of deducting the Kurdistan Region’s share from the federal financial budget and paying the salaries of its employees.
    A statement from the Presidency of the Republic received by “Baghdad Today” stated that Rashid “met today at Baghdad Palace with a number of members of the House of Representatives, heads of parliamentary blocs, and state officials, in the presence of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani, and Minister of Environment Nizar Amidi.”
    The meeting witnessed, according to the statement, “a discussion of the latest developments at the security, political and economic levels in the country, where the President of the Republic stressed the importance of preserving the achievements achieved in consolidating security and stability, strengthening national unity, achieving social justice, and working to provide services to citizens by focusing on the success of programs and projects.” development and investment in the country.
    According to the statement, Rashid stressed “the necessity of deducting the region’s share from the general budget and paying the salaries of employees in the Kurdistan region on the same basis as the rest of the employees,” pointing out that “non-payment of salaries caused the closure of schools and deprived students of receiving their education.”
     The President of the Republic stressed "the importance of continuing consultations and coordination between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government and finding final solutions to the outstanding issues between the two sides in accordance with the constitution and the law, especially with regard to disputed areas through the application of the law and the adoption of dialogue and political consensus between the political forces."
