    Mustafa Falih:
The economic expert, Safwan Qusay, explained the importance of Iraq’s entry into the field of investment in weapons, while highlighting Iraq’s most prominent needs for investment in this field.
Qusay said in an interview with “Al-Zawraa”: “Iraq is trying to move towards a strategy of reducing import costs. Through analyzing Iraqi imports, it appears that Iraq needs imports at the level of weapons, whether of a specialized nature or of a traditional nature. It is currently moving towards reducing import costs.” Through investment by the regular Iraqi private sector in the production of such small weapons at the level of operational institutions,
he added, “There could be job opportunities for Iraqis in this sector, and thus we can be self-sufficient in the issue of importing operational weapons,” indicating, “We are supposed to have a desire.” “In achieving self-sufficiency first in these traditional weapons, and then moving towards searching for markets to export these goods.”
He explained, “The private sector in general is capable of preserving and managing property with a cost-profit mentality, and it is a useful sector. If the public sector is responsible for everything in Iraq, we will certainly not succeed in managing the state’s resources and creating job opportunities apart from oil revenues and financing the budget.” .
He stressed that “the trend towards the possibility of expanding the circle of growth in the private sector, whether in military industries or other industries, will contribute to creating a sustainable environment that thinks about returns and growth rates through which it can remain in the Iraqi market and search for new markets.”
He pointed out that “we need to invest in the issue of defensive naval carriers and anti-aircraft guns, given that investment in land forces currently exists, but we need to invest in producing what the naval force and air force require.”
He went on to say, “We also need to invest in the communications system by establishing a satellite for Iraqi purposes only, and currently artificial intelligence is the title for investment in these sectors, and the process of finding international partners towards the manufacture of weapons for warships or carriers of goods can be an encouraging environment for investing in iron and steel factories in Basra and benefiting from them.” Produced and developed by these laboratories.”
He called for “expanding investment in anti-aircraft missiles, whether military or even drones, because the detection of such attacks shows a weakness in the system of protection for the Iraqi airspace, and we need companies for the growth of these industries.”[/size]
