Parliamentary Transport discusses the Maritime Authority Law to regulate the work of the sector

The Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee is hosting maritime experts to discuss the Maritime Authority Law.
Committee member Zuhair Al-Fatlawi told Al-Sabah: His committee is working to amend the Maritime Authority Law of 2019 in order for us to have an independent maritime authority that regulates the work of all sectors of the Ministry of Transport with regard to ports and maritime transport.
He pointed out that the world is turning to maritime transport because it is one of the most important and profitable sectors in the world, noting that Iraq is close to completing the Al-Faw port by 2026 or 2028 at the latest, in addition to the path of development.
Al-Fatlawi indicated that the committee will host naval experts to come up with a final version of the law because it is important, is in the interest of Iraqi maritime sovereignty, and regulates the work of the entire maritime sector.
