    Economy News - Baghdad
The Department of Labor in Maysan monitored the decline of foreign workers in companies operating in the governorate to 20 percent, and the increase of their local counterparts to 80 percent.
The Director of Federal Labor in the Department, Zaid Abdul Razzaq Al-Bahadli, said that the Department of Labor and Vocational Training seeks to limit foreign workers and pursue violating companies operating in the governorate.
He added that the department took several legal measures against more than (37) companies, imposing financial fines through the presidency of the Maysan Federal Court, for violating the labor law, and as a result, those companies reduced the number of foreign workers.
Al-Bahadli pointed out that a decision was taken during the meetings of the department and foreign companies operating in the governorate, not to issue any permits for them to work in Maysan except after obtaining approvals from the department, by submitting official documents to the workers, and thus the decisions became good, and the Ministry of Labor is now following up on replacing foreign workers with their local counterparts. And training workers to be prepared to work in foreign oil companies.
He noted that the percentage of foreign workers in Maysan decreased to about 20 percent and the number of local workers in foreign companies increased to 80 percent, stressing that the Ministry of Labor is determined to create more job opportunities for the unemployed by filling foreign worker vacancies.
