    Tomorrow, Monday, the Ministry of Agriculture will launch a national vaccination campaign against hemorrhagic fever within three governorates, after infections were recorded there, while a comprehensive campaign will be launched covering Baghdad and all governorates on the 18th of next April.

    The disease virus is transmitted to humans either through tick bites, or touching the blood or tissues of infected animals during or after slaughter, so most of those infected are livestock workers, butchers, or veterinarians.



    The information officer of the Veterinary Department in the Ministry of Agriculture, Zainab Rahim Hussein, said that the opinion committee in her department approved several recommendations, the most important of which is the formation of a committee from all branches of the department in the governorates. Tomorrow, Monday, it will also launch a limited, free national campaign targeting three governorates in which hemorrhagic fever cases have appeared, namely Nineveh. Dhi Qar and Wasit, with the aim of eliminating the cause of the disease (tick).

    She added that the recommendations also included launching a comprehensive and free national spring campaign on the 18th of next April, which will continue for two months, subject to extension, indicating that the campaign targets Baghdad and all the governorates of the country except the region, with the participation of 246 veterinary teams, with one team for each clinic in the governorates, and will include a campaign to spray Animals, barns, and infection hotspots are immersed due to the incubation period that the parasite goes through and for fear of it turning into a mature insect and spreading quickly.

    According to experts, if a person is infected with the virus, he may become a carrier of the disease, through direct contact with his blood, secretions, or body fluids, and it may be transmitted in hospitals as a result of poor sterilization of medical equipment, or reuse of medical supplies without sterilizing them.

     
    Hussein indicated that the largest number of veterinarians will participate in the campaign, and they will be equipped with the pesticide (Delta Methrin) and personal protection supplies, along with providing logistical and material support. She explained that ticks appear after sunset, and hide during the day when temperatures rise, between cracks in agricultural soil. , especially within the lands that have become out of service, according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.
