    Today, Thursday (April 11, 2024), the Integrity Commission announced the arrest of eight defendants in the Iraqi Insurance Company, Al-Rashid Bank, and the Real Estate Registration Directorate in Dhi Qar Governorate, in addition to monitoring violations in contracting with lecturers and administrators in the Education Directorate and in a project to establish a school at a cost of two billion and 700 billion. Million dinars.
    An integrity statement received by “Baghdad Today” indicated, “The staff of the Dhi Qar Investigation Office moved to the branch of the Iraqi Insurance Company in the governorate, and after conducting investigation, follow-up and audit work, two of the company’s employees were arrested for causing the loss of (14) instruments that were in their custody with the special cards.” “It caused damage to the company’s funds and interests.”
    He pointed out that “three Al-Rasheed Bank employees were arrested for committing violations in posting the installments of one of the bank’s borrowers.”
    The statement indicated that “three defendants were arrested while they were unofficially tracking transactions in the Real Estate Registration Office in Al-Batha District,” indicating that “a team from the Commission’s investigation office seized in possession of the defendants 4 real estate ownership transactions and copies of real estate registrations that were tracked in violation of the law without authorization.”
    He added, "By moving to the Dhi Qar Education Directorate, it was revealed that the Directorate had disbursed an amount of (554,474,000) million dinars from the salaries of lecturers for the month of September 2023 from the trusts account, despite the presence of funding from the Ministry of Finance, in addition to not taking the necessary measures." To verify the integrity of the salaries of (323) contracted lecturers and administrators, and to continue disbursing their salaries via the “MasterCard” card after terminating their contract based on their request, pointing to the contracting with (178) lecturers and administrators, despite their receiving other salaries, as they are employees and retirees and included in social protection salaries.” .
    The statement continued, “In the School Buildings Department in the Directorate of Education, violations were observed in the construction of a school with (18) classrooms at a cost of (2,697,205,000) dinars, which was implemented by a private company in the Karma Bani Said district,” noting that “the technical report Prepared by the appointed expert, he addressed the presence of errors in the work carried out by the company that was contracted with.”
