A representative is dissatisfied with the large number of “holidays” in Iraq: Friday and Saturday must be used

Member of the House of Representatives, Thaer Al-Shuwaili, stated that Friday and Saturday should be used for the reconstruction of the country, while dissatisfied with the large number of holidays that the government announces from time to time.
Member of Parliament Thaer Al-Shuwaili said, “The frequent holidays affect the administrative system in general and not just the Iraqi economy, as Iraq today is going through a phase of construction and reconstruction, and is now beginning to recover from the effects of wars and neglect.” Noting that, “Friday and Saturday are supposed to be invested in construction for advanced stages.” Pointing out, “There are many occasions and days that deserve to be declared as official holidays, especially on important occasions.”
Al-Shuwaili explained, “All Iraqis are affected by the holidays, especially those groups whose livelihood is on a daily basis, especially at this stage that accompanies the high cost of living.” Pointing out, “Most citizens are happy to announce official holidays in the country, but this situation is not true.”
He stressed, "Time is very important. We see the phenomenon of many vacations only in Iraq, as citizens in the global system outside Iraq have a capitalist mindset to invest time in building their country." Warning, “The official working hours are suspended when temperatures rise in the country, and this matter is not in the interest of Iraq and its economy, and even at the level of social networking sites, we may find that the public can, through pressure on local governments in each governorate, to suspend the official working hours, and opinion is stirred.” Governor through their claims.”
He continues, “There must be a vision and study of the extent of the impact of these holidays on the country, its economy and its systems, so at least working hours in departments and institutions must be compensated when official working hours are suspended.”
It is noteworthy that Iraq occupies the forefront of countries in the world in the number of official holidays and the diversity of its national and religious occasions, as well as unofficial holidays imposed by special circumstances, which inflict losses on the state treasury of millions of dollars for each day of holiday, according to experts, as a result of the failure to compensate for working hours in its departments and institutions.
Iraqi law granted local governorate governments the right to declare a holiday for the residents of the governorate exclusively as needed, and this has been repeated from month to month in several governorates for various reasons, especially on religious occasions.
