The Ministry of Health is moving towards establishing a medical complex in Baghdad to treat cases of mental disorders and drug addicts, while it intends to build hospitals and treatment halls in the governorates.
The National Advisor for Mental Health in the Ministry, Dr. Adnan Yassin Muhammad, told Al-Sabah that "the nine hospitals will be distributed as follows: two in Basra Governorate in the Qibla and Medical City areas, one in the Khairat area in Karbala Governorate, and another in Nineveh. As for the capital, Baghdad, in the Ghazaliya area, it will witness the construction of an integrated medical complex to treat mental disorders and drug addicts."
He pointed out that a member of the House of Representatives submitted a request to build (4) hospitals with a capacity of (200) beds in each of Kirkuk, Samawah, Wasit, and Maysan, and planning approval was obtained for that.
