Baghdad Provincial Council agreed with the Ministry of Transport to (automate) the work of Baghdad International Airport.
The head of the e-Governance Committee in the Council, Muthanna Al-Azzawi, told Al-Sabah: "The Governance and Transport Committees in the Council conducted several visits to Baghdad International Airport to determine its needs and requirements," noting that "there is a section in the budget allocated to border crossings, especially since the airport is the only crossing in the capital and is an economic, tourist and cultural front, which called for giving it great importance."
He explained that "the Council asked the Ministry of Transport to prepare a list of the airport's needs and requirements to be included in the Council's plan within the budget for next year (2025)," noting that "the Council has prioritized the project to rehabilitate the Nineveh and Karbala halls as they are closed and in need of complete rehabilitation."
Al-Azzawi revealed that “the Council agreed with the Ministry of Transport to ‘automate’ all airport procedures through competent engineers introducing electronic governance, starting with the passenger’s entry into the airport until he boards the plane, according to modern systems and software, and adopting modern technology in surveillance devices according to a global system that contributes to the arrest of internationally wanted persons.”
