    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The head of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Majid Shankali, confirmed that Iraq suffers from a large surplus in the number of doctors and pharmacists by 200%.[/rtl]
[rtl]Shankali said in a statement followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", "Iraq suffers from a large surplus in the number of pharmacists exceeding 200 percent, and there is a similar increase in the number of dentists, scientists, and laboratory assistants."[/rtl]
[rtl]He explained that "there is a severe shortage of nursing and administrative staff and doctors in many specialties."[/rtl]
[rtl]Shankali continued, "The government is working in partnership with the private sector, as an Italian company conducted a study for a local hospital that requested only seven pharmacists out of 200 available, and this surplus in numbers contrasts with the severe shortage in other medical specialties such as emergency medicine, forensic medicine, brain and chest surgery."[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "the committee seeks to ensure that appointments in institutions are made according to need and according to the required specializations to address the large surplus in numbers."[/rtl]
