    Economy News - Baghdad
Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab, spoke about the agreement between Iraq and Turkey regarding the water file.
In his televised speech, he said, "Iraq calls for joint work with Turkey on the water file, but it refuses, attributing this to political will."
Dhiab added, "Iraq has a study to build a dam on the Shatt al-Arab, to be located in Ras al-Bisha and shared with the Iranian side."
He explained that "the diplomatic aspect is important in resolving water issues," noting that "Iraq lost half of the Shatt al-Arab because of the Algiers Agreement in 1975."
Regarding the recent agreement with Turkey, Aoun Diab said, "Ankara blames Baghdad for wasting water and not managing it well, adding that they are "somewhat right."
