Baghdad (NINA) – Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, discussed on Sunday, Jan. 20, in Riyadh with the Arab League's Secretary General, Nabil Elaraby, works of the Third Arab Economic and Social Development Summit.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that in the meeting discussion covered the Summit's agenda and development's priorities, as well as means to consolidate economic and investment cooperation between Arab states.
It added that the two reviewed Iraq's commitments, being President of the Arab Summit, with regard to Palestine and Arab countries; pointing out that the Foreign Minister
reviewed political developments in Iraq and all the keenness of all sides to abide by the Constitution and fulfill legitimate demands within the frames of the law.
The statement pointed out that the League's Secretary General praised Iraq's Presidency of the Summit through its role toward consolidate joint Arab work and presenting a
number of initiatives, in addition to hosting a number of specialized ministerial meetings.
It added that discussion covered also Syria's current crisis and its effects on the area as well as on the Arab countries. Zebari reviewd to the Arab league's Secretary General
and the League's delegation the developments of positive and constructive relations between Iraq and Kuwait; and their intention to deal with all issues in a constructive spirit and within the mutual interests of both countries' people.
Zebari also discussed with Kuwait's Foreign Minister, Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the relations between Iraq and Kuwait.
According to the Foreign Ministry's statement, the two stressed positive progress realized in the relations between their countries and their joint keenness to cooperate toward solving outstanding issues, such as the issue Iraqi Airways compensation and joint management of navigation in Khor Abdullan, as well as maintenance of border marks between both
