The State of Qatar expressed its regret over the involvement of the UAE and its senior officials in what it described as the "crime of piracy", which was revealed on the website of Qatar News Agency (QNA) on May 24.
Sheikh Saif bin Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani, director of the government liaison office, said in a press statement Monday that the information published by the American newspaper "confirms beyond any doubt the crime of piracy that occurred on the website of the Qatar News Agency."
The Director of the Government Liaison Office stated that "this information which is used to commit this heinous crime, which is classified as an international crime of cyber terrorism by a Gulf state, is a flagrant violation of international law and bilateral or collective agreements between the Gulf Cooperation Council Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation or the United Nations ".
He pointed out that "investigations conducted by the Public Prosecution in the State of Qatar on this crime are still ongoing, and the prosecution will take legal action to prosecute the perpetrators of this crime or instigators, as stated by the Attorney General, on June 20, both before the Qatari courts or international bodies Competent for crimes of electronic terrorism. "
The Washington Post reported earlier on Monday that it was Abu Dhabi that had penetrated the Qatar agency website to publish a statement to the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, which caused the current Gulf crisis.
The report quoted US intelligence officials as saying that the newly analyzed information, compiled by US intelligence agencies, confirmed that on May 23 senior Emirati officials discussed a plan to penetrate and implement Qatari government websites, noting that "it is still not It is clear whether the UAE was making the breakthrough itself or by contracting with another party. "
On May 24, Internet hackers broke through the official site of Qena by fabricating and publishing statements to the Emir of Qatar.
On June 5, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain cut ties with Qatar on the pretext of "supporting terrorism" and imposed a land, sea and air blockade on them. Doha denied the accusations, saying it was facing a "campaign of fabrications and lies."
The investigation into the infiltration of the Qatar News Agency website was carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Crime Enforcement Agency (NCA), according to the Qatari Foreign Ministry.
