Shafaq News / The Advisory Board of Shabak announced on Sunday, that the death toll of Shabak people reached 1270 people killed since 2003, calling on the security services to carry out their duties in controlling security and punish “terrorists”.
A suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest blew himself up on Saturday, at a funeral in Aortah village in Bashiqah sub-district (17 km north - east of Mosul) as the attack killed 27 people and wounded 37 others.
“The number of martyrs of Shabak after the fall of the former regime until today reached 1270 Shabak martyrs " , and urged " the security forces to carry out their duties and control security ,”The Advisory Board of Shabak said in a statement reported for " Shafaq News”.
The armed groups were published, earlier publications in some neighborhoods within Mosul city, home of Shabak people threatening them to kill them or leave their home areas .
“ 500 Shabak families have been deported due to these threats during last August and July, and pointed out that the governments in Baghdad and Erbil has not supported or helped them,” Shabak’s representative in Nineveh , announced last week in an interview with " Shafaq News”.
According to unofficial statistics, 15 Shabak people were killed since mid of last July, till this day in Mosul, as well as death of nearly 1240 Shabak citizen for sectarian reasons.
According to the same statistics, 6000 Shabak families have been displaced since 2003.
Specialists believe that Shabak is one of the Kurdish communities, while others believed that they are a mixture of mostly Kurdish clans, with a minority of Persian and Turkish families, estimated 300 thousand people, according to unofficial statistics .
Shabak live in villages and towns located in the north and east of Mosul city, some of them suffered from bloody attacks that have caused hundreds of deaths and injuries in the past three years in particular.
