    The Ministry of Communications confirmed that the closure of the Ibrahim al-Khalil crossing with Turkey would not affect the Internet capacity in Iraq, while noting that it had "fortified" itself through other outlets. 
    "The Internet in Iraq is fully insured in the event of any emergency," ministry spokesman Hazem Mohammad Ali said in a statement read out by Al-Mada. "The ministry has cables of maritime light, GBI, and informs Iraq linking the Arabian Gulf through the FAO landing station. To the land ports in Badra - Shalamjah with Iran and the port of Safwan with Kuwait as well as the port of Arar with Saudi Arabia and the executors Ibrahim Khalil with Turkey, and work is underway to connect with Jordan through the port of Trebil.
    He added that "in the case of the execution of Ibrahim Khalil, which crosses 2% of the Internet capacity, these services will not be affected because the ministry has fortified itself through other ports operating," noting, "The contract Symphony - Ertlenk insured by connecting from four ports Fawar, as well as Ibrahim al-Khalil, although this project did not enter the service. " 
    He added that "the ministry has been working on the service of citizens through providing the best services to them and state institutions, and Internet services are fully secured through 8 ports to pass the Internet capacity in case of closure or interruption of service from northern Iraq, there are other outlets to compensate these capacities Services are not affected. " 
    It is noteworthy that the crossings Ibrahim al-Khalil, the border between Iraq and Turkey, are subject to closure, after the referendum on the separation of Kurdistan.
    Baghdad imposed a series of economic and political measures on the region, which was the suspension of flights in the airports of Arbil and Sulaymaniyah, as well as his demand to hand over border crossings to the federal authority and prevent the region from exporting oil.
