, Minister of Agriculture, Saleh Al-Hassani, confirmed on Wednesday that closing the borders will not affect the provision of agricultural products to citizens.
Al-Hassani said, in a statement received by / Mawazine News / a copy of it, that "closing the Iraqi borders will not affect the provision of agricultural products to citizens and that the ministry has adopted its effective plans aimed at preventing the import of agricultural crops, which amounted to (25) agricultural and animal crops in order to support and provide the local product In the market and in sufficient quantities to meet the need of the Iraqi cuisine. "
The minister stressed the importance of "returning confidence between farmers and the ministry after providing them with the appropriate support of fertilizers, seeds and modern agricultural mechanization as well as granting the dues for marketing wheat on the next day of delivery. The ministry also took care of the palm sector and established a specialized center to develop it in the horticulture department in addition to escorting The productive process in all its stages and extending a helping hand to farmers by transferring the results of scientific research to the agricultural field reality.
He pointed out, "Continuous cooperation with the supportive authorities to monitor the markets and prevent price hikes after fruitful coordination with the control and security authorities," pointing to "The high rates of summer crop production, as tomato production in Basra reached (5000) tons per day and achieving sufficiency in the production of eggs and local chicken."
