Ministry of Transport announced, its agreement with the local government in Basra province to implement river taxi project in the province, noting that it has been allocated 7 billion dinars on the budget of the province to implement the project.
The general director of maritime transport in the ministry "Basra province has allocated 7 billion Iraqi dinars for the implementation of the project by the Ministry of Transport", pointing out that "the project will contribute to the solution of the transfer of students and staff in addition to the transport of goods light."
He explained that "the ministry will develop a plan for few days the number of stations that need a god river taxi on the shores of the province in addition to the number of boats required to transport."
And that "it is hoped that the project is located on the responsibility of the General Company for River Transport in the province of Basra in early 2014."
The Ministry of Transport spotted earlier, 13 billion Iraqi dinars for the establishment of 30 boats for river transport exclusively in the province of Baghdad, noting that the company will establish boats masts is a company with the Ministry of Industry.
