The Iraqi Oil Ministry on Wednesday signed the final contract to develop the field of eastern Baghdad (southern part) with the Chinese company Genghua.
Oil Minister Jabbar Ali al-Luaibi told a news conference that the signing of the contract is of economic importance to the capital Baghdad, which is the first oil project in the capital. Moreover, the development of the field will increase the production rates in the Central Oil Company, adding that the contract is important in terms of providing Social services, where the company will implement the construction of a residential complex by 2000 housing units.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador in Baghdad, Chen Wicheng, stressed the desire of Chinese enterprises to promote joint cooperation.
For his part, the representative of the Chinese company Genghua said that it will start the development of the field after completion of the signing process today, and will work to develop the field and access to the production rates.
