The judiciary has asked Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to clarify his recent statements about money laundering in his country and to present his documents in this regard.

Hossein Nqawi Hosseini, a spokesman for the parliamentary bloc of parliamentarians in the Iranian parliament, said that Ghulam Hussein Mohseni Ijie E, the deputy head of the judiciary, asked Zarif to explain his statements and present his documents on the money laundering operations he talked about last week, In Iran is still going on.

A video of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Jawad Zarif was recently circulated saying that "many in his country benefit from money-laundering, and anti-money laundering opponents have huge sums to spend part of it to oppose these laws."

Nekwai Hosseini said of his bloc's meeting with the deputy head of the judiciary, that the members of the bloc "states" see that the statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the large money laundering operations are contrary to national interests, wondering why the judiciary did not follow the case.

"The vice-president of the judiciary said at the meeting that he felt that these statements were wrong, and because they are issued by a state official, he must submit his documents and clarifications on what he claims," Hosseini said.

"At the request of the committee members, the foreign minister was invited to present evidence of his statements about alleged money laundering in Iran," he said.

He described the remarks made by Zarif as "unacceptable", "unprecedented", "accusations without evidence" and that "the enemies are unable to attach these accusations to the Islamic Republic," he said.

Iranian newspapers have attacked Iran's foreign minister, accusing him of lobbying for such proposals to accept the anti-terrorist financing project, the anti-money laundering bill and other FATF laws approved by parliament and rejected by the Guardian Council, which is dominated by Supreme Leader Khamenei.
