The head of the Iraqi parliament Mohammed Halbusi discussed with the members of the parliamentary financial committee during an expanded meeting on Saturday, financial allocations for the development of regions and investment projects.
"The meeting reviewed the needs of the liberated governorates of Daqash and underserved governorates, as well as the needs of the Ministry of Defense, Education, Health and Water Resources in the federal budget," said a statement issued by the Halbusi office.
The statement added that the meeting dealt with addressing the file of sons of the Awakening, and finding a financial cover for the file of building schools and the wages of lecturers.
The meeting also discussed "ways to reduce the deficit in the federal budget for 2019 and reduce the volume of external loans so as not to affect the nature of the movement of investment and reconstruction and to create employment opportunities for young people."
For his part, Al-Halbusi, "during the meeting the need to end the file of transfers of funds in the Ministry of Finance in a manner commensurate with the needs of the federal government."
He also said that "meetings are continuing to resolve the problems in some paragraphs of the budget and its provisions; in order to accelerate the adoption and meet the aspirations of the Iraqi citizen."
