The Director General of the Iranian border crossings in the Iranian Interior Ministry Shahriar Haidari, on Sunday, that Iran is waiting for Iraq to open the port of Sumar officially.

He added that "Iranian border crossings are making efforts to use the Sumar port for the visitors' movement, especially during the days of the visit of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, because of his proximity to Karbala ."

"The port of Sumar is the closest to Baghdad, Karbala and the southern provinces of Iraq, and we have held negotiations with officials in Iraq to be officially opened and await their position," Haidari said.
