    A source close to Abdul-Mahdi, who is scheduled to accompany him on the visit, in a telephone interview with the "new Arab", that "Abdul-Mahdi's travel to Saudi Arabia was scheduled when he was in China, and was supposed to go directly to Riyadh, but the Saudi side asked The visit was postponed because of commitments made by the Saudi monarch.     On the other hand, the leader of the Supreme Islamic Council, close to the Prime Minister, Ahmed al-Hassani, to the "new Arab," that "Iraq in its current political situation can play the role of calm between Saudi Arabia and Iran."
    He added that "Iraq strives in efforts to keep the specter of war in the region, and this visit falls within these endeavors."
