US military reveals details of the disposal of body parts Baghdadi
Two people were arrested during the US raid targeting [size=13]ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in his hideout in Syria and are currently being held by the United States, according to the Pentagon.
General Mark Miley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said they were being held in a "safe facility."
He announced that Baghdadi's body parts had been disposed of and that there were currently no plans to publish photos of his killing.
"Baghdadi's body parts were taken to a safe place to verify his identity through DNA analysis and then disposed of and handled appropriately."
The Reuters news agency quoted three US officials as saying that the remains of Baghdadi "buried in the sea after the rites in accordance with Islamic law."
US President Donald Trump said earlier that some of the photographs taken of the raid on Baghdadi may be published.
No details of the two detainees have been released.
Baghdadi was killed after an explosive belt was detonated after fleeing to a tunnel as the US military chased him, Trump said on Sunday.
