The Electoral Commission has set, today, Thursday, the date for transmitting the results of the appeals and the counting and sorting process to the judiciary and clarified its next steps after this file is resolved.
The Director of the Media and Mass Communication Department at the Electoral Commission, Hassan Salman, said, "The commission continued today to consider the appendices of the appeals that came under the decision of the Board of Commissioners and allowed those who had evidence to submit it to support their appeals, and it was considered in three governorates, and it completely matched the electronic results."
He added, "The total number of appeals appendices amounted to 88 and by 915 stations. After completing the sorting, the Board of Commissioners will send a recommendation to the Judicial Authority of the Commission to take the decision it deems appropriate after deciding on the issue by ratification or veto."
And he added, "Some of the complainants confirmed that they had evidence to support their previously submitted appeals, and therefore the Board of Commissioners decided to recommend it and sort it out after receiving the appendices of the appeals."
He stressed that "the issue of comprehensive counting and sorting is illegal because it was not mentioned in the election law under which the commission operates."
Regarding the next steps after the end of the counting and sorting process, Salman explained, "After the counting ends, the Board of Commissioners will begin to refer the results of the counting, appeals and recommendations to the Judicial Authority for Elections, and I think that the issue will take place at the beginning of next week."
He stressed that "the commission is not part of the political decision and is working according to a timetable to end the appeals file, and after completing its subsequent procedures, the final results of the October elections will be announced." Ended 29/87
